River Cruising at Bojo River Aloguinsan

Bojo River Aloguinsan Cebu

Aloguinsan, CHECK! Aye! My aim is to really explore Cebu not just the famous tourists’ spots but as well as the untouched nature splendors.

“There is pleasure in the pathless woods; There is rapture on the lonely shore; There is society, where none intrudes, by the deep sea and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more.” -Lord Byron

Cebu is so abundant with places to enjoy nature at its best. Aloguinsan was once a place listed on my bucket list to set-foot – to experience and eye-witness the famed, Bojo River.

Last June 16, I was so glad that I was able to join IBM’s Mangrove Tree Planting Event at Aloguinsan. Rejecting the event invite was never on my mind – my perfect chance to visit the place for freeJ. Before the activity proper, we first had an eco-tour.

Bojo River…
With nature, experience ultimate serenity.
Feel the calm waters refresh you as you bathe your hands and legs.
Birds singing, hear it as music to your ears – eargasmic it is.
Greens are everywhere, let it soothe and relax your eyes.

The tour is not only to witness the beauty of the river but it includes mangrove ecology and bird wildlife lecture – you’ll surely learn a lot as I did (disregarding the scientific names of the mangroves, Blimey!)

I am always amazed with nature and this experience did not fail me. The river cruising took only less than an hour but it was superb. It was like boating on a magical river. The gigantic rocks on both sides, that completely covered with green (trees and mangroves), glued to my eyes . For me, the climax (or the highlight) of that cruising was when we were about to reach the mouth of the river – where sea water and river meets. It was a feeling of entering a Paradise. We took a U-Turn when we reached the sea since staying long there was a bit scary – the waves gone wild. 😉

mouth of Bojo River.. we were taking a u-turn here.

We did not stay much of our time there since our main aim was the mangrove planting. The whole tour package includes: mangrove ecology and bird wildlife lecture, handicraft demo, a buffet lunch and a snack and a cruise down the river.
